REVIEWS: "With reading being one my favorite hobbies, I have read plenty of books. Most of them have been poorly written with only a handful being well written. This book is one of that handful that resides in my home library. Southern Spirit Guide’s Haunted Alabama: A Gazetteer to Ghostlore, Legends, and Haunted Places in the Heart of Dixie written by Lewis O. Powell IV, is a collection of many fascinating and historical legends and hauntings.

I have heard Mr. Lewis Powell comment that in order to have ghosts, there has to be a history. Mr. Powell does an excellent job giving a sufficient historic background of each entry in his book. Each entry includes information about when the structure was built, if/ how/ when it was destroyed, past residents (houses, schools, etc.), and deaths that took place at the structure. Not only does he give sufficient background, he also does a wonderful job recounting the ghost tales and legends of each structure. While he has not had experiences at these places, the way he writes makes it seem like it is his tale to tell. Some of these ghost stories are short and simple while others are quite fascinating and intriguing… If you like history, ghosts, or both, I would most definitely recommend adding this treasure to your bookshelf.
