Troup County Archives provides a central location for the preservation and research of local government records, historical papers, and genealogical resources.

The John and Anita Willoughby Taylor Research Library offers researchers access to the archival materials that document the lives of West Georgians. Manuscript collections include family papers and organizational and business records ranging from early 19th century court cases to Civil War diaries and early photographs. Indexed newspapers, family files, estate records, cemetery records, and marriage records may have just the document needed to complete your family tree. Much information is available through our online digital collections.

Appointments are not required but are encouraged.

To enable us to better serve you, please schedule a research appointment to ensure a staff member is available to assist you at the time of your visit. When requesting appointments, patrons may ask for collection material to be pulled in advance of their visit. Staff will communicate within one business day to confirm the appointment and collection materials requests.

Troup County Archives’ Fees

The state of Georgia authorizes that an institution (Troup County Archives) may require a fee for the work and cost of locating an open records request. Troup County Archive’s fee is determined by O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71 (c), with no charge for the first fifteen minutes of work performed for the records request.

  • Transcript Request: $10.00 per transcript
  • Records Request: $5.00 per request
  • Photocopies: $ .10 per page
  • Certified Copies: $10.00 per copy
  • Notarized Copies: $2.00 per notarization

The minimum fee is $5.00 for each request.
Each page of records that are photocopied are 10 cents per page.
