We joined to gether with the Friends of the Library to publish A Century of the History of Troup, Texas 1850s-1950s to help preserve the history of Troup. The 300 page project contains over 400 photographs and covers the following chapters: Early Settlers, The Coming of the Railroad, Businesses, Postal Service, Civic and Local Government, Social and Fraternal Organizations, Agriculture, Education, Churches and Cemeteries, Military and Personal Memories. As stated on the inside cover of the book, “With the completion of this project, the people of Troup can take pride in those of the past who sacrificed to shape our future in a small town setting. We are leaving our legacy recorded of generations to come.”

A continuing project for TGHS is the production of a yearly Troup Historical calendar. The calendar features a photo for each month, plus the front and back covers, and a 2 page center spread. This project is the main fundraiser for the society and helps fund the scholarship program.

Another project we have are digital copies of the Troup Banner.  We are now able to offer the TROUP BANNER newspapers for sale on DVD.  The years are Sept. 1904 through 1977 with the exception of the 1940s and 1950s which were lost to water damage.  The price is $150.00 for the two DVD set.    Please make checks payable to TGHS, Inc. and mailed to: 
 

TGHS meets the second Saturday of February, May, August and November at 2 p.m. at the Troup Library. Should that Saturday fall on an election day, the meeting is moved the 3^rd Saturday of the month.
